FIFA U-20 Canada vs Chile tonight

July 1st, 2007 · No Comments

YEA! The day is finally here. I’m off tonight to watch Canada play an impressive Chile here in Toronto. I’ll be down at the BMO field tonight with all the other soccer fans hoping for a Canadian win.

I am pumped. This is my first international match. And this cat is hoping from paw to paw in anticipation.

I’ll take my camera, but I don’t think I’ll get many photos. I’ll be too busy. Funny thing about the fans at BMO field - they never sit down. The foot stomping is LOUD. Toronto fans tend to be a bit raucous. Now this is noise I can handle. Lots of cheering, singing, hooting and stomping.

Toronto is thick with soccer fans. You have no idea how happy we were to get our own team - Toronto FC.

Ah but this is Team CANADA playing here on Canada Day. How lucky are we? Games are being played all over this country. If you aren’t familiar with the size of Canada then take a look at a map. If you drive steady for 8 hours a day (no sight seeing or stopping) you could make it in from Toronto to Vancouver in about 6 days. That covers 1/2 of Canada. That’s approx. 4435 kilometers. A lot of space and impossible to flit from soccer venue to soccer venue.

There should be fireworks at the waterfront as well - BMO field is right at the waterfront were the big fireworks displays for Canada day will be. Sounds like a great night eh?

I’ll have to pick up a souvenir scarf while I’m down there to go with my other football scarves.

Stumble it!
