Well, the weather finally broke. What a cool, breezy night. It was wonderful for sleeping. Its hot today but has a nice clean feel. No more humidity. Good thing too. Long weekend here in Toronto – some sort of weird civic holiday that only some of the population gets and the other poor schleps have to work. A large part of the population migrate to cottage country each weekend, leaving the rest of us free run of the city.

So what’s on this weekend? The biggie is Caribbana – a huge extravaganza of Caribbean culture. Tourists are everywhere, TFC soccer game, Chinese lantern festival, Irie music festival, Summerworks and Island Soul.

Next week will be the Festival of Beer, Taste of the Danforth (big street party celebrating the Greek culture in the Danforth area) and my past favourite Hot and Spicy festival.

Monday I’m heading down to the Museum to see some of the exhibits. I’m still appalled and totally pissed off at the addition they built. Its hideous – a sticky pointy, too much wasted space. no straight flat surfaces to put things monstrosity. It doesn’t blend with the neighbourhood, on the contrary – its a monument to the architect’s ego. I gave up my membership in protest over this bloated add on. There is a special exhibit I want to see … be the first time in 2 years I’ve been to the museum.

Tomorrow? Bugger all – going to relax on the balcony and read.

Today? I’m sitting in my favourite cafe – Aroma – overindulging in cappuccinos and having their breakfast. Lots of fresh stuff to nibble on. Yum…

I guess I’m hiding out from the world here. Odd spot to hide, but here you get to sit with your own thoughts, sipping fine coffee, reading newspapers around the world on the laptop, quiet music in the background. Can’t think of a better spot to be at the moment.

Been to the bakery already so I have my bread for the weekend, and some fresh nibblies for tea tonight. I’ve stopped purchasing bread from the grocery stores – the stuff lasts forever! Its like post-apocalyptic bread. Guaranteed the only things to survive a nuclear war will be roaches and Wonder Bread. What do they put in it to make it last so long? At least the roaches will have something to eat when we are little lumps of ash. I go out of my way to get to this Bakery – Cobbs on Bloor street. Lots of yummy stuff there.

Hope your day is going well. I think I’m going to slip into cruise control for awhile and just drift with the afternoon. Talk to you later.

If you liked that post, then try these...

Interesting day downtown.

Stumble it!
