Becks booed by rabble

The Red Patch Boys put on their best game faces for the weekend match up between Toronto Football Club (TFC) and LA Galaxy. For those not in the know, the Red Patch is the official booster fan club. They can always be seen down front in the RP section carrying on as though the forces of good and evil are battling it out on the BMO field here in Toronto.
Beckham sat out the game, he is still nursing an injured ankle, so of course they took this opportunity to do a bit of rabble rousing.
Boos ensued.
Off course.
What did the opposition expect?
The bulk of the TFC fans were there to watch the game, Becks would have been a bonus. But injuries are part of the game. Anyone who was upset they spent money on the game, expecting to see Becks play – well – get over it. If he’s not fit to play, that’s the way the soccer ball bounces. There were those who were outraged at paying all that money and no show. I say, you should have followed more closely before you stood in line to get a last minute ticket.
But the booing has made the news in the UK. They made much of it, naturally. They fail to understand how rowdy the RPBs can get. It was a bit of saber rattling against LA.
The game was great! Toronto played without 8 of their key players and kept LA running in circles. TFC was relentless. It was a 0-0 draw, but with all the injuries to the main line, well, that was a spectacular show. I think the first picks of the team better watch their backsides. The second string has the desire to play now. The speed of game was impressive as was their passing skills. The TFC players didn’t hold onto the ball, they indulged in some very solid footwork and passing. Toronto didn’t sit back and wait for opportunities, as most North American teams seem to do. They dug in and played hard fast ball.
Enjoyed it immensely. Wish I had been there. But I was cosy in my comfy chair with my cup of tea.
I was pleased with a right up in the Daily Mail UK. I understand the only reason the game got a mention was Becks Boos, but the article concentrated on the game itself. If it’s still there, check it out Becks sits out Galaxy Draw
In case its gone here is an excerpt of the piece:
Galaxy came into the game following a thrilling 6-5 SuperLiga victory over FC Dallas on Tuesday but it was Toronto, missing eight first-choice players through injury, who had much the better of the match.
Mo Jonston’s side not only created the better chances but also stopped the visitors from finding their rhythm.

Not bad for the new kids on the block, eh?
