Chelsea football club lost to Aston Villa yesterday. Aston pulled out all the stops and came up trumps with a 2-0 win. A SHUT OUT! Aston had to beat back a real push by Chelsea during the last 30 minutes of the game. Yes. Life is good. I’m an Arsenal fan but I’m always happy to see Chelsea beat. Sorry to any Chelsea fans but the truth hurts. Looks like this may just add more fuel to the rumours of a split between the Chelsea’s owner and coach Mourinho. I’m not a fan of Mourinho’s style. His team tends to play with no flair or real emotion. Wonder if we are watching the countdown to the end of his reign.

I’m also glad to see Manchester City is still doing well. After so many years as the butt of so many jokes, I’m cheering for them to keep up their momentum. Man City is sitting at #5 in the league with 9 points. Early days I know! I’ll be split in my loyalty if both make it to the finals in the Premiership league. But I have a sneaking suspicion Liverpool will be the team to beat this year.

Arsenal beat Portsmouth 3-1 and Man City lost its game 0-1 to Blackburn. Liverpool hammered their poor opponents Derby, on Saturday. They rolled right over Derby with a 6-0 win. Derby is sitting at the bottom of the heap, and Saturday’s pummelling didn’t help. Games like that tend to screw up the top scorer results. Torres and Alonso both double scored and that pushed them up in the count. Derby isn’t exactly a top notch opponent and their goal keeping was more like watching water rushing through a sieve a than goal keeping. Mind you Sunderland must be happy to have Derby around – Derby serves as a nice pillow at the bottom of the ratings for a change.

Across the pond, here in North America, Toronto is sitting in the bottom of the Eastern League, but ahead of both LA and Salt Lake. Although folks are upset with Toronto’s lack of progress in the league, I think they are being unjustly harsh. This is Toronto’s first year in the the MSL. They have put on some good games, with lots of spirit. I’m not going to write all the usual stuff about being patient etc, that’s a given. I get impatient with people who want instant gratification. Give it a rest and enjoy the team as it builds. Sheesh….

Stumble it!
