It’s Saturday night and I’m watching some house flipping/reno/home buying shows.
One thought has struck me - why are BIG and numerous bathrooms such an obsession? Over and over people snub houses because the bathroom isn’t huge or there is only 1.5 or 2 bathrooms. Singles and couples with no children are the worst offenders in this.
I watched one show where the people were not happy because the house - 5 bedrooms - didn’t have an ensuite bathroom for each bedroom. They wanted each child to have their own bathroom! Utter silliness! In another lovely place they turned the home down because the large bathrooms weren’t large enough.
Big bathroom? Just how much time are you planning on spending in there? Now I don’t want a bathroom that is so small I can’t move around, but the demands of some of these people are simply silly. Some of the rooms are bigger than my bloody bedroom. Just what do they think they will do with all that space? Move a couch in and stretch out? Hell folks, it’s a toilet - do you really want to lounge around in it?
One person was concerned the bathroom wasn’t large enough to accommodate their flat screen tv. THEIR TV? God help us, not only are they obsessed with bowel movements, they don’t want to miss 1 single commercial. I don’t know about you, but I don’t spend that much time in the bathroom that watching tv while in there isn’t an issue. If you can’t take 2o minutes out of your busy tv schedule for your shower or bath, then you need serious therapy.
In every single show the potential buyer wants numerous bathrooms. I recently watched one where someone will be living alone wanted 2 or 3 bathrooms. Why? Will she be jumping from bathroom to bathroom? Is she expecting to be so taken short that she needs strategically located loos?
What is this obsession? What does this say about the diet of the average house buyer? Perhaps a bit more fibre in their diets might help them get passed their single minded focus on bathrooms. Or maybe they have too much fibre and all they can think of is how they spend all their time running in and out of the throne room.
Regardless, I am concerned with this obsession. I want a functional room - I don’t want to spend all my time there, nor do I want to become fixated on it.
Stumble it!

My human, even when single, liked two bathrooms. It’s nice to have a bathroom for guests and then one you can mess up–er use. Of course, they didn’t need to be HUGE.
And umm… big screen tv in the bathroom? Hello hemorrhoids.

Next thing will be separate bedrooms and bathrooms for the house pets! There’s a hole in the market!
And with this, another great entrepreneurship idea is tossed out into the blogosphere. We don’t care, it is rewarding enough to simply see our ideas realized.

Hey, I have to SHARE my bedroom and bathroom with everyone else - should I be demanding better treatment??

Things are getting a bit ridiculous at the beach house on the bathroom front.
Whenever I want to wash my paws, there’s a cat sitting in the handbasin.
It’s not right, and it’s not proper.
And it’s not to be argued with - YOUCH! (Those claws are SHARP!)
I’ve got the photo to prove it too, on my blog this week. You talking about bathrooms gave me the idea. The names have stayed the same to show who’s guilty

I’m with Catpaw on this - I don’t like sharing either.
Can’t a cat have the bathroom to herself for five minutes??
Once Roufa and Mimi have started up their gloabl Bedrooms and Bathrooms for Pets franchise, I shall be FIRST in the queueueueueueue.

Well, what can I say - I never new the world was so litterbox obsessed!
I love the bathrooms for pets franchise idea - maybe we can pitch in and donate some money to Roufa and Mimi to startup the business. Any ideas? I’d personally love a castle litterbox
