Why has no one vigorously challenged my favourite victim of foot-in-mouth disease, Sarah Palin, about her membership in the Alaska Independence Party? This group advocated armed insurrection to boot the US government out of Alaska. Although they downplay it now, as early as 1994, they were advocating this. In the early 90’s, the group’s founder had gone so far as to get the Republic of IRAN to sponsor him when he wanted to appear before the UN and accuse the USA of tyranny against the great land of Alaska and push for UN recognition of Alaska’s right to nationhood. Isn’t it Iran that has Palin in such a lather lately? After all, Obama has the nerve to suggest talking to these people, how dare he. Looks like there is one set of rules for Palin and her right wing buddies and another set of rules for the rest of the country. This is a nasty case of do as I say, not as I do.
According to the AIP itself, Palin and her husband were members in 1994, despite the fact McCain and the Republican party are vigorously saying she wasn’t. Someone here is not telling the entire truth. Wonder who. Check out the video she did this year, congratulating the AIP on it’s convention. Here she is clearly welcoming a group who has stated very clearly Alaska First, and has threatened armed violence against the Federal government. McCain is running on a platform of Country First – not quite what the AIP advocate. As the head of a state, she had the choice of staying quiet and not offering this separatist party such a warm welcome.
Seems to me this type of activity would fall squarely into the UnAmerican activities that Palin and company are always accusing Obama of. Her entire barrage of attacks and McCain’s pathetic “That one” dig smacks of racism. I can’t help but worry about the kind of neigbour Canada will have if McPalin seize power. I think we would very quickly pine for the good old days of George W. Bush – and that is a terrifying thought.

First of all, we are grateful to Palin for the great comedy she has (helped to be) produced. That said, after the initial shock / cheering on of the “charismatic” new maverick, it is becoming more and more unlikely that McPalin will make it. Anger and hatred rarely does. (Unlike stupidity.)
Well, we’ll know soon!

Hey Catpaw, great to see you back and VERY grumpy!
We didn’t join in for a bit, because we are not really political animals; in fact we are distinctly cartoon animals, but all our grown up friends are very worried about this scary woman having so much power.
We think its time for some cat action – let’s get all the cats, and dogs too if they want, and llamas, and anyone, to get together to form an action group against Sarah Palin.
We’ve thought of an appropriate acronym:
“Cats Against That Palin Orator’s Office”.
What do you think?
