Like really, Tamils holding up traffic and in general pissing off the rest of the city to support a known documented terrorist group is really going toopen people eyes to your conflicts.
Piss me off get your terrorist flags off my damn streets.
The news is full of genocide and murder, rape, suicide, starvation and economic collapse.

All you are is another sprinkle on the donut.

hmmm... well reasoned response there London Girl! Nice to know literate debate is still a highly valued commodity in the world.

Perhaps you might want to read Siv's response - THAT was a well thought out answer to my post. Siv doesn't agree with me and didn't stoop to the "shutup" nonsense so often spouted by people who don't want to think. I may not agree with Siv, but I sure as hell read his comment a couple of times and it gave me pause.

I agree with some of the points you raised. However the main aim of the protests is to raise awareness of the situation in Sri lanka. The government of Sri lanka should not be allowed to carry out these atrocities without being condemned for it.
The reason why many Tamils feel the LTTE represents them is because they feel that the LTTE is fighting for their cause, the rights of Tamil people. The diplomatic routes have been tried and failed in the past to prevent the discrimination and violence against Tamils in Sri lanka.
As long as the government continues to allow and endorse the discrimination of Tamils, the problems will not end and the tiger will have support. The international community will not do anything tangible about the discrimination of Tamil people in Sri lanka but it is quick to condemn the only group that reminds the Sri lankan government that Tamil people have an equal right to live on the island.
It is commonly said that Tamils are a minority in Sri lanka. Of course that is true but it is also important to remember that Tamils live in the Tamil areas of the North and the East of Sri lanka, where there are hardly any Singaleese. So is it right for tamils in these areas to be governed by a Singaleese majority government who don't have their best interests at heart? And to be made to feel like they do not belong, in the lands that they have lived in for many generations? LTTE are freedom fighters and whilst some of their practises are wrong, what they fight for is self determination and the rights of the Tamil people. They are not terrorists but freedom fighters with a cause. The Sri lankan government attacks Tamil civilians in the north as part of their war. But when the tigers attack the Singaleese people in Colombo, it is called terrorism? The Srilankan government should be condemned just as much as the tigers.

You brought out some great points. Don;t be fooled by the protests. Their hands are bloody too, just some do not see what is happening because of a Media Blackout and quote a few journalists from that area have been assassinated.

We are trying to spread an urgent message that came out of Sri Lanka. They included photos of charred Tamil corpses, they were caught fleeing to Government ruled areas. Men, women, children. there was no mercy shown. They were all set on fire while still alive. Warning, the pics are graphic and disturbing.
