Jackass comment of the week award

Jamie Foxx has made a king sized jackass of himself for his latest comment on Miley Cyrus. Now, I recognise Miley is not to everyone’s taste – her market is young teenage girls. I’m an adult and don’t spend anytime listening to her. I’m not part of her demographics. Nor is Jamie Foxx, so why all the hatred aimed at her? Jamie Foxx deserves a hard smack upside the head for stating Miley should:

make a sex tape and grow up! Get like Britney Spears and do some heroin. Do like Lindsay Lohan … and get some crack in your pipe…. That’s what I want.

Wonder what Mr Foxx would say if someone said the same thing about his teenage daughter? Would he find it amusing? This was a cheap, sordid shot at three young women who don’t deserve the venom I see spilt out all over the Internet towards them. To actually suggest a young girl “make a sex tape” is the height of arrogance and ignorance. Was this meant to be amusing? Are we supposed to laugh at his sly humour at suggesting a teenager degrade themselves so he can get a cheap and dirty thrill?

This was in poor, poor taste.

I’m getting a little tired of idiots making tasteless and harmful comments and then when they are confronted with their egregious words offer lame ass apologies for their lack of morals/manners/common sense. How many times have we heard in the past year, “I’m sorry, IF I caused offense”. IF??? I’d like, just once, to hear a proper apology that doesn’t qualify the comment. How about “My comments were unfunny and ill thought out and for this I offer an unreserved apology”.

Somehow I don’t think we will be hearing this type of up front courage any time soon from Foxx or any other so called adult.
