Yet another embarassing confession

Posted on | February 13, 2010 | 4 Comments

When I was a kid I collected bugs. Hmmm …. yea … I know stamps, books, bugs, can you get any geekier? One of my all time favourite bugs was and is the praying mantis. I would collect their eggs and hatch them. Can you imagine my delight when I ran across this video?

Makes me want to start hatching them again… then again maybe not.

Actually the ones I have seen in Ontario were a light green. What did you have to do to hatch them.

Yea.. the one’s here in Ontario are a lovely emerald green! It’s been so many years, I can’t remember how I hatched them. I had this great book on insects and just followed the instructions. Wish I could remember

I kept white mice as a kid. We lived in a more temperate climate then; so I kept them in the garage. Still, my mother never felt comfortable knowing they were near.

I imagine that if I told her I was keeping mantises out there, she would have told me that I had to choose between her and the bugs.

Ah.. but mantisis are so much cooler than mice! I would like to assume you would choose your mum….
