I never realised Doug Ford didn’t think women drove. No, seriously. I laboured under the delusion Doug and his brother Mayor Rob were mayors of all citizens of the sprawling mess we lovingly call the GTA, not just the men in their little enclave in the suburbs. It’s difficult to separate the muddled meanderings of the two, and it’s painfully obvious Doug is Mayor part two. I knew from the start neither of them didn’t believe the vast majority of Torontonians were worth a lick of salt, we being dangerous, lefty, elite pinkos and all, but never in my wildest ponderings did I think the Fords were so sexist as to think only men drove cars in this city.

Why else would Doug Ford suggest Hooter’s Tow Truck service? Yes, I know (or hope) he was attempting to be funny, but suggesting a Hooters sponsored tow truck to help with a flat tire, smacks of a juvenile wet dream. Let’s have a woman dressed in short shorts and tank tops pop around with the tow truck driver to serve up an order of wings – nothing like a stereo type to boost the male ego! Or is Mayor Doug expecting the Hooters woman to change the man’s flat tire too? Don’t hand me any crap about “It’ll just be the wings, not the girl” either. If he meant fast food, then why did he specify Hooters – the symbol of corporate objectification of women, rather than an order of wings and fries.

Better yet Doug, will we get Hooters Boys? Can we specify which type of sexism we would like to patronize? Bad enough he and his brother are acting as shills for the corporate world and attempting to gut any program they personally don’t use, now we have to endure inane musings like Hooters service for a flat tire. Nothing like city hall sanctioned sexism to enhance Toronto’s reputation.

Tonight, Camping said the Rapture had actually occurred – it was a spiritual judgement, not a physical one. Nice slippery move on Harold’s part – never apologise, just say it happened, you just weren’t aware of it, then move the date. And here I thought I had a simple case of heart burn on Saturday night. It was God telling me I was going to burn in Hell. Ah yes and Old Harold moved the date on us again. The real end of the world, the absolute best before date, boom the world is gone date, bye bye you heathens, burn in the fiery pits of hell, will occur on October 21. Harold’s motto should be “why let a good apocalypse go to waste”.

In a display of the most cynical, rapacious kind, Camping’s radio station, Family Radio, is on air tonight appealing for more donations from their faithful – yes give till it hurts, cause Harold sure as shit isn’t. I listened for a bit and then felt like putting my foot through my computer. The announcer was blathering on about how expensive it was to bring the word of God to the public and how it cost money. Problem is, Family Radio isn’t bring anything to the public but terror. Like a modern day Orson Wells, terrifying the gullible with tales of the END, Camping is still spinning tales to his audience. The difference of course being, Wells was an entertainer not a con artist.

I think it’s time people saw Camping, and those like him for what they are – terrorists. They prey on the sad, the unhappy, the desperate and the mentally vulnerable. It doesn’t matter whether Camping believes the nonsense he is spreading – he’s arrogantly despicable. Believing only you and a select few will be saved and condemning good people for no other reason than they don’t believe the same as you is pathetic. I feel sorry for those that believe him. They are going to live in terror for months to come, waiting, only to be disappointed again. They’ll wonder what they did wrong to be denied entry to the promised land rather than dealing with the realities of life. In the meantime, they’ll give more and more money to this most unworthy of causes. They have my sympathy; Harold has my contempt.

Charlie Sheen has been offered $3 million to be the face of a dating website.

The former Two and a Half Men star — who infamously set up house with two “goddesses,” Natalie Kenly and Bree Olson, earlier this year — has reportedly been approached by Establishedmen.com to front a forthcoming marketing campaign for their service, which matches rich men with “needy” women.

This little bit of information typifies everything that is wrong with the Hollywood mystique. It celebrates a drug addled idiot who revels in misogynistic blatherings. Before anyone writes a defense of Sheen, saying he loves women – they are “goddesses” to him – get your head out of your ass. Women are there to prop up his bloated ego. They are tools to be used, abused and discarded when they don’t suite the role any longer. He has nothing but contempt for women. How about respect? Or is that not part of the Sheen vocabulary?

Any company that wants him as their spokesperson has told me everything I need to know about them. Women are purely decorative chattel. Basic arm candy to pad an ego. And yes, I’m both dismissive of women who go for this and deeply torn over them. They flush decades of work for equality down the toilet by falling for the Hollywood myth that you don’t need anything but youth and good looks to be a success.

But there is a much darker side to this. The site preys on the vulnerable and the desperate – it will match “needy” women with “sugar daddies”. I grew up with girls who thought if they aged, their lives were over. One friend was obsessed with non-existent wrinkles and kept proclaiming “we’re so old” before we were 25. Ripe for the picking – and an abusive relationship. This is a dating site for losers who want compliant women. They can hold their money and power over the heads of any woman that gets involved with them to force acquiescence – Don’t do what I want? Fine, I’ll find another “sugar baby”. Using terms like sugar baby (that is what the site calls women) infantilizes women – “don’t you worry your pretty little head over anything, let the man take care of everything”. This is a dangerous trap to fall into. Having Charlie Sheen as the spokesperson for establishedmen.com should be warning enough. The idea oozes contempt and cynicism. Caveat Emptor is the word of the day.

Okay.. so I wasn’t speechless.

Then we have those like the author of a blog I periodically read. It’s a platform for spreading extreme evangelical hatred. She also tweets a lot of aberrant nonsense, which is how I stumbled across her in the first place. I pretty much ignored her until I found out she was Canadian. I am still aghast. How to describe our Miss Raissa? Well, let’s start with intolerant, bigoted, homophobic, evangelical… I read a lot of fundamentalist claptrap on the web but Miss Raissa stepped beyond her usual Atheists are all evil, Canada is a Christian country, Gays are going to burn in hell cycle and embarked on an argument she’s still reeling from. She is so desperate to prove her faith, she’s willing to park all common decency and make claims that caused an uproar with Christians, agnostics and atheists. A mighty feat. There is nothing new with Fundies justifying their fears by trying to make a connection between homosexuality and paedophilia. Never afraid to make a fool of herself, Raissa plunged headlong into an epic adventure of stupidity with this series of Tweets:

Who says all cases of pedophilia are rape? Children are becoming sexually active earlier these days. What if the child likes it?

@catpaw well what happens when the children will say “it’s not rape, I like having sex with that man or woman” what will society do? Accept it like it did with homosexuality.

An absolute shit storm descended upon her head over these remarks – the words fire and brimstone come to mind. No number of tweets trying to explain to her, children cannot consent to sex because the law doesn’t allow it and rape is never enjoyable made an impact. Raissa is so wound up in “the Bible says so” thinking, she cannot understand the difference between consent and rape:

Well if the children start saying they enjoy sex with thse older people. Nothing could budge her on the notion that rape is not enjoyable or consensual. Nor could anyone get through to her the nature of rape as power over a minor:

Everyone clear on that? Trying to use rape as a justification for condemning a consensual act between adults is vile. Many tried to explain to her the differences between paedophilia and consenting adults but she is so wrapped up in evangelical sin and hell, she can’t see (or won’t see) anything wrong with her statements. She took so much heat for this exchange, she wrote an entire post defending her statements regarding child rape. Some just wanted her to condemn paedophilia and rape, but she clung to her homosexuality was once forbidden line so maybe rape will be okayed one day. Miss Raissa lives in a world of absolutes and 2 dimensional thinking:

Finally, many atheists were mad at me for equating pedophilia to homosexuality. They said that homosexuality is between two consenting adults which is not the case with pedophilia. At the end of the day sin is sin and wrong is wrong. The reason why I compared it to homosexuality is because homosexuality wasn’t accepted by society once upon a time. But now it has been embraced regardless of the fact that it’s wrong.

Anyone she disagrees with is an Athiest by the way. Easier to dismiss words if they are evil.

Miss Raissa is the worst example of Canadian. These people are insidious – hatred bleeds from their pages, yet they cry discrimination against their faith if we challenge their writings. Her constant drivel on how gays and people that don’t share her specific flavour of Christianity are going to burn in the fires of hell are tedious and wrong. Hopefully she never gains any element of power in our society. I’m sure she’d be stoking the flames with the bodies of her enemies if she ever did.

How do these people manage to get dressed in the morning? Quite frankly I’m shocked they manage to crawl out from under their beds, let alone make it out the door to confront the evil, twisted world they inhabit. I just saw an online petition to stop the “[teaching of] appalling homosexual acts” in public schools. Funny, my dictionary defines tolerance as: “the ability or willingness to tolerate the existence of opinions or behaviour that one dislikes or disagrees with” (Oxford). Not a whisper about sex acts. These people are ridiculous beyond belief. They are incapable of independent thought or rational thinking. They froth at the mouth about homosexuality being against the Bible and Jesus will condemn them, blah blah blah… I guess compassion isn’t in their odd little Dictionary of Intolerant Behaviour. Must have been eradicated during the last edit

Hyperbole is one of their strengths. Out and out lieing is another. These are the same people who scream discrimination the moment any laws enforcing separation of church and state are used. With rampant stupidity like this, is it any wonder so many of us demand a total separation? They go on and on about some mythical “radical homosexual agenda”. Does this agenda come with a day-timer?

I figure, these folks are much more dangerous than my gay neighbours. Not once have any of my neighbours banged on my door demanding to know what I do in private, or that I support them in any way. However, I have had dealings with fundamentalists who have called me incredibly rude things because I wouldn’t sign their petitions. You get called even worse things if you challenge one of the ones proselytizing. When you ask a fundie a question they react like a vampire exposed to daylight – they cringe and scream. Anyone else think fundies are a bit Lady McBethish? The Fundies doth protest too much?

I think they should just crawl back into their caves and leave the general public alone. Their fundamentalist rabies is detrimental to a sane and well functioning society.

I love Hotmail/Yahoo Mail etc because you can create no end of email accounts for signing up to these sites. I created a new account, applied for “membership” and voila, was in. I have no problem with the TPN doing this. It’s their site, their members and they have the right to restrict who is on the site. And face it, a web page like this is a huge troll magnet. When I logged in I made a bee line to the FAQ. It basically sets the tone for the entire site:

If you wish to debate the virtues of liberalism (as though there were such a thing), there are many other sites on the web who will tolerate you.

Open mindedness is not tolerated on this site. It’s another site that can’t distinguish between liberal thinking, socialism and Nazism. Everyone that disagrees with “our God given Individual Freedoms written out by the Founding Fathers” is an enemy. I think they need to read up on DEMOCRACY – wonderful concept that is foreign to their thinking. But as I said, their site, their rules. I’ll abide by them and refrain from participating. I just wanted to read their site first hand.

What I found enlightening was the link to Canadian Conservatives – Tea Party (please note this is NOT the Conservative Party of Canada). It has 11 members, one of whom I’m sure is a troll. I’ve always worried that this type of idiocy will leak north, which is partially why I always watch groups like the Tea Party. They are never content with pissing in their own backyard, they insist on doing it everywhere. Groups like this are always talking about “taking our country back”, “taking our city back” – maybe all these people need are damn good maps. The country is in the same place it always was. They presume people who don’t lockstep with them are all the enemy, an enemy to be eradicated. I was relieved to see such so few Canadians visible on the site. Maybe they were lurking, I don’t know. But I suspect the extreme tone on the site would be off putting to the majority of Canadians. No we aren’t all liberal, nor are we all socialists – Canadians come in many flavours. The only discussion on the Canadian forum was posted a year ago and no one has responded.

I moved on from the Canadian section and quickly realised, the TPN says the same thing over and over ad nauseum. There are no new thoughts, no new ideas. It’s like a record stuck in a groove:

– gays are deviant
- marriage is for men and women
- no one will take away my gun
- Obama is a Nazi/Socialist/Communist/Muslim
- God is the only way (their god, no one else’s)
- and who can forget Patriot – a word that has lost ALL meaning. The word is a parody, a code word for raving stupidity cloaked in a flag.

How many ways can you spin this stuff before people’s heads explode from boredom? Here’s a snippet from their take on DADT being repealed – evidently the sky is falling:

There you have it, all gays are predators in their world. Anyone else a little worried with the “every single military entity … know what to do or how to do it” line? This skirts dangerously close to incitement to commit a crime. They believe every gay person in the military will abuse all the innocent young men and women and are recommending soldiers do … what is necessary? Perhaps I’m misreading this, but I doubt it. Their paranoid fear of anything beyond what they think is the norm radiates from the article. The fact gays have always served seems to be completely beyond their comprehension.

How about this headline: “The American left’s favorite Marxist thug continues his march to totalitarianism (Sounds like “Net Neutrality?)” Yea, another one of their pet peeves is Net Neutrality – another plot by we liberal thinking people to take away their rights. They also carry on about Obama’s lack of experience. ENDLESSLY talk about it “What foreign diplomacy experience does obama have?” all the while ignoring the abject ignorance of Tea Party zombie de jour Palin. The complete failure of logic in their thinking is bewildering.

Here’s my favourite headline: “BREAKING NEWS! – Is Barack Obama Really A Saudi” – their source? A video from a “prophecy in the news” website. Very trustworthy source, a “news” organisation that is looking for signs of biblical prophecy to justify their fears and hatred. Sorry, but this is not news, it’s the wet dreams of a god botherer. But, like requests (endless demands actually) for Obama’s long form birth certificate, no amount of logic and proof will make a difference.

“‘Tis the Season to Celebrate Jesus, Not Obama.” I have yet to see an Obama Tree or hear an Obama Carol. Seriously these people need perspective.

Here’s my favourite line from “Is Obama Just a Moron” –

And anyone who dares speak of things beyond our backyard is a commie/pinko/fascist blah blah blah. This becomes clear in an article posted on Dec 18/10 titled Busybodies, Nags and Control Freaks, which draws comparisons to Hitler’s rise, Castro and Obama and his wife (yes they love to smear Michelle Obama). It’s patently obvious what the author of the article is attempting to do – scare the crap out of the naive and frightened. A scary black man with a funny name is in office! Save me!
